During these difficult economic times, some families are facing the choice between feeding themselves or taking care of loved ones. This choice is made by parents of low-income families every day and many times involves the family pet. Feed the family or feed the family pet? Visit the doctor or provide food to the loved pet? Local shelters and animal rescues are experiencing an increase in owner relinquishments of family pets due to the family’s inability to afford pet food and pet care for their beloved 4 legged family members.
Giving up a family pet to make sure it is has food and is healthy is a very traumatic experience for both the humans AND the animal. Fortunately, many families will no longer be required to make the choice to feed themselves or their pets. The Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry will provide temporary food assistance to Pet Guardians who are currently unable to afford food for their pets and may be forced to give up their pets without food assistance. Dog and cat food as well as a limited supply of cat litter will be available.
Our Mission
To keep pets with their families and prevent pets from being surrendered to local shelters, turned loose, or otherwise given up because a Pet Guardian is unable to afford food for their pet.
Who We Are
The Cincinnati Pet Food Pantry is a program run by the Cincinnati-based animal rescue, Recycled Doggies. Recycled Doggies focuses on saving dogs from death row at local animal shelters and finding them new homes. However, in addition to saving the dogs already in shelters, Recycled Doggies wants to be part of the solution by preventing family pets from being given up to shelters in the first place. Recycled Doggies hopes to bring awareness to the effect that the economy is having on pet owners in our area by offering pet food assistance. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In order to help as many pet owners as possible, we are making the following changes:
1. ONLY PET OWNERS THAT MEET OUR INCOME ELIGIBILITY LIMITS QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE CINCINNATI PET FOOD PANTRY.
You must submit proof of income, such as:
· Food stamps or Medicaid eligibility letter (just the card isn’t enough UNLESS it has an expiration date like some Medicaid cards do), printout from TANF, Medicaid, EBT/Food Stamps program showing income/eligibility, evidence of PIPP (Heat Energy Assistance Program eligibility).
***WE CANNOT ACCEPT A SIGNED LETTER FROM YOURSELF, EVEN IF IT IS NOTARIZED. THE PROOF OF INCOME/ELIGIBILITY MUST BE FROM A THIRD PARTY.

3. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY ANY PET OWNER'S APPLICATION WHO ADDS PETS TO THEIR HOUSEHOLD. OUR GOAL IS TO HELP YOU KEEP YOUR PETS, NOT HELP YOU ADD NEW ONES THAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO FEED.

DIRECTIONS TO THE PANTRY:
From 275 - Just off I-275 at the Reed Hartman Exit - follow the signs toward Kemper Rd, turn right on East Kemper. Go thru 3 lights (past the CARE Center Emergency Vet Hospital, turn right at the next road (just before the railroad tracks). Go about 3/4 mile- at the second sharp curve (just after Soccer Village), turn in on the right - signs for Circle Development and Circle Storage. We are just inside the gate. Park in the parking lot to the left of the driveway - do not bring your car through the gate. It is located between Cornell and East Kemper Roads on Deerfield Rd.
** We are not able to deliver food to individuals who cannot come in person on distribution days, and we ONLY distribute food on announced distribution days. We are a small, volunteer-run organization, and this is how our program is set up. We are not able to make exceptions.**

ON JANUARY 21, 2012, WE PROVIDED PET FOOD ASSISTANCE TO 73 LOW INCOME PET OWNERS. THAT NUMBER WAS A BIT LOW DUE TO THE ICE STORM WE HAD THE NIGHT BEFORE.

ON OUR 14TH DISTRIBUTION DAY ON JANUARY 15, 2011, OUR NUMBERS WERE LOWER DUE TO THE COLD AND IT WAS OUR FIRST DISTRIBUTION SINCE IMPLEMENTING INCOME LIMITS. WE PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO 75 NEEDY PET OWNERS.
ON OUR LUCKY 13TH DISTRIBUTION DAY ON DECEMBER 18, 2010, THE COLD SEEMED TO KEEP SOME PET OWNERS HOME - WE PROVIDED PET FOOD AND KITTY LITTER TO 105 PET OWNERS TO HELP FEED THEIR PETS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON.
ON OUR 12TH DISTRIBUTION DAY ON NOVEMBER 20TH, WE PROVIDED FOOD TO 141 PET OWNERS STRUGGLING TO AFFORD TO FEED THEIR PETS.
ON OCTOBER 16TH, WE PROVIDED FOOD TO 148 PET OWNERS AND GAVE OUT COUPONS TO SEVERAL MORE PET OWNERS TO HELP THEM FEED THEIR PETS!
ON SEPTEMBER 18TH, WE PROVIDED FOOD TO 150 PET OWNERS.
ON AUGUST 20TH, WE PROVIDED FOOD TO 182 PET OWNERS, AND WE RAN OUT OF DRY DOG AND CAT FOOD, WET CAT FOOD, AND CAT LITTER.
ON JULY 17TH, WE PROVIDED FOOD TO 154 PET OWNERS! WOW!!
ON JULY 2ND, WE PROVIDED PET FOOD TO 38 PET OWNERS STRUGGLING TO FEED THEIR PETS!
ON JUNE 19TH, WE PROVIDED PET FOOD ASSISTANCE TO 114 PET OWNERS WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE HAVE BEEN FORCED TO GIVE UP THEIR PETS!
